Where Wax Becomes Memory: Reflections on Our 2026 Pysanky Workshop.
On March 21, 2026, our annual pysanky workshop gathered the Tucson community at St. Michael Ukrainian Catholic Church not only to learn a craft, but to step into a living tradition.

When we write a pysanka, we do not simply decorate an egg—we carry memory, faith, and Ukraine’s living spirit into the next generation.

St. Michael’s Choir at Tucson’s 250th Interfaith Service.
Tucson, AZ — August 20, 2025. St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic choir joined faith leaders and community members at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Cathedral for an interfaith service commemorating the 250th anniversary of Tucson’s founding. The gathering marked the city’s sestercentennial with prayers, readings, and music representing many of Tucson’s religious and cultural communities.

Hearing the young voices rise beside us tonight, I know our songs will outlive us.

Tucson Meet Yourself 2024.
At Tucson Meet Yourself, we bring a slice of Ukraine to downtown Tucson—live pysanky demos, embroidery and folk art displays, and homemade baked goods made by our volunteers. Stop by to meet our community, taste something new, and learn about Ukraine’s traditions. Proceeds support UAST cultural programs and humanitarian relief for Ukraine. Want to help?
